Help Jake on his road to recovery

Donation protected
Hi all. This is Lottie, Jakes older sister who's making the GoFundMe page to raise money for my brother. Jake is 10 years old and has autism. 8 weeks ago multiple large abscesses were found suffocating his brain, risking his life.

He has lost the ability of speech and walking, rendering him in a wheelchair.

My family has been reluctant to put up a GoFundMe as they didn't want to ask for money. But we've realised it's okay to ask for help.

Jake needs your help so he can walk and talk again (money will be used for therapy, mobility aids, etc)---- DONATIONS AND SHARES APPRECIATED!!!

This all started on the 19th of April when my mum (Lou) went to wake up Jake to take him to the doctors as he had a snotty nose. However, he woke up paralysed and had trouble breathing. My dad (Sean) was at work, so I called an ambulance. We got to Gold Coast Hospital where he had to undergo emergency brain surgery (craniotomy).

The surgeons told us there was more puss than expected and didn't know if he would make it out alive.

Luckily, he was okay and had to stay in the CCCU (children's critical care unit) for 2 weeks. Jake was in a coma for 5 of those days. After that, he was paralysed entirely on the right side and couldn't make any sound. We were glad he was alive.

They then moved him to Queensland Children's Hospital in Brisbane where he had another emergency brain surgery to stop the abscess from growing again.
We're currently staying in the Ronald McDonald House and Jake is still in hospital.

He's made progress and can makes noises (mostly babbles- not many formed words other than 'yes') and he can now stand shortly and walk short distances with help of a hopper.

This has been an extensively long and hard journey- that's nowhere near over... I love Jake with all my heart and what has happened to him is devastating. These funds will push him to recovery- the quicker, the better.

Throughout this whole time, we've had hope. Hope he will be alive. Hope he will walk and talk again. Hope he will get better. And he will!

All money this makes will go to Jake's ongoing therapy (speech, physio, OT, hydrotherapy) at least 3 times a week so he can make more progress!!

We need an accessible bathroom and house so he can move around and shower.

ANY DONATIONS ARE APPRECIATED!

If you can't- it's okay. Please share this page around!

Thank you dearly.
