Hello, my name is Michael. I am a college student and full-time employee. In the last few months, I have gotten to know Jake, a homeless man on the streets in Colorado. From getting to know him, there hasn't been a moment personally where he has been evidently on drugs or intoxicated. He even quit alcohol 10 years ago and does no hard drugs.
While homelessness is a bleak and terrible situation, Jake has also recently fractured his femur inside his hip socket in an unfortunate cart accident. A titanium rod was inserted, and due to the winter conditions of Colorado, it would cause great discomfort if he cannot get rest and safety in a home.
Unfortunately, Jake has underlying health conditions preventing him from staying at a homeless shelter and is unable to stay at a hospital long-term to heal. The doctors do say he needs bed rest, or he may be risking his recovery.
A clean, safe hotel with a hospital discount is around $100 a night.
Donations will go towards safe housing for Jake during the winter. Some funds may also be used for food (though he does have Food Stamps), clothing, any needed toiletries or over the counter medical supplies, basically every day living items as necessary. Priority will be given to housing.
Can we help this man get off the streets even for a little bit during the winter, to heal and work to get his life back?
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Michael
