From Caregiver to Nurse: Just Two Semesters to Go
Hi, I’m Jake — a nursing student, full-time caregiver, and future RN with just two semesters left to finish my accelerated BSN program.
For the past few years, I’ve been caring for my mom, who is now in hospice with late-stage Alzheimer’s. After moving home to support her following my father’s sudden death from a stroke, I paused everything — work, income, school — to be her full-time caregiver. Now, I’m back in school with a 3.978 GPA, working two jobs (including as a student nurse at Ascension Hospital in Indianapolis), and still managing all of my mom’s expenses for her care on top of my own.
I’ve already funded over 70% of my tuition, but I’m struggling to cover the remaining balance. My monthly tuition is $1,833.11, and my two jobs don't cover all of the expense. I’m trying to raise enough to finish strong without sacrificing my ability to care for my mom or myself.
If you’re able to contribute — or even just share this — it would mean the world. Every donation helps me stay on track to become a nurse and continue caring for others the way I’ve cared for my family.
With gratitude,
Jake
