Hannah was induced on Saturday, 3/21/26 at 37 weeks due to high blood pressure. She did incredibly well and gave birth to sweet Kade Michael at 8:34 PM.

Shortly after birth, Kade went into respiratory distress and was transferred to Hurley Children’s Hospital the following morning. He was intubated and treated for a partially collapsed lung, along with fluid and infection in his lungs.

Kade is so strong and has already made incredible progress. He is no longer fighting infection and has moved from a ventilator to CPAP, and now to nasal oxygen. He is eating well and gaining weight like a champ. Right now, his biggest challenge is maintaining his oxygen levels, which means he just needs more time for his lungs to heal. At this point, he is expected to remain in the NICU for a couple more weeks.

This has been an incredibly difficult season for Jake and Hannah, though they are handling it with so much strength and grace. They are currently balancing time between being at the NICU with Kade and caring for their 1-year-old son, Maverick, at home. The commute to the hospital is over an hour each way, making this already challenging situation even more exhausting.

Jake’s employer offers very limited parental leave, which has already been used. He is now using the remainder of his PTO and may need to return to work while Kade is still in the NICU.

We are raising funds to help ease the financial burden so Jake and Hannah can focus on what matters most—being present with Kade and supporting their family during this time.

Funds will go toward:

• Monthly bills (rent, utilities, student loans, insurance, etc.)

• Gas for daily travel to and from the hospital

• Groceries and meals while on the go

The goal of $4,500 will help cover one month of essential expenses and provide some breathing room during this unexpected season.
