Hi! I'm Jaime, and I believe that plants can do more than brighten a room - they can change lives. As I've experienced this myself, now I'm building The Wild - a community greenspace, cafe, and plant shop in San Francisco to bring this transformative joy to others.

My Story:

Trained as a CPA, I worked in the corporate accounting world for 17 years and built a seemingly successful career from the outside. But truthfully, I wasn't happy and didn't feel successful. I worked long hours, under stressful deadlines, and never felt a passion for what I was doing.

7 years ago, my life felt turned upside down while I was experiencing simultaneous life transitions and challenges and was filled with anxiety and grief. I turned to plants to brighten up a gloomy apartment and had no idea these plants would give me a sense of purpose and help me focus on life outside of my grief. My jungle grew from a handful of succulents to over 150 plants and became an obsession.

Caring for plants had profound effects on my well-being, and my mental and emotional health. They transformed my space and my life. I knew that this passion was more than a hobby. At 40, I decided to forge a new path and create a space and community for others, revolving around the beneficial impact of plants.

The Concept:

Imagine walking into a space that provides a respite from city life. You smell delicious coffee, warm croissants, and see green everywhere. Your mind becomes more relaxed, all of your senses are engaged, and you feel a connection to nature. The Wild aspires to spark joy in all who enter with our seamless integration of urban jungle, cafe, and botanical shop. The beautiful greenspace will serve as a place for customers to work, read, study, relax, and socialize. The Wild is also passionate about building community and sharing ideas and knowledge. We will host a variety of workshops and events, including plant care classes, as well as be available for private functions.

We are devoted to sustainable and eco-friendly business practices as well as supporting local businesses and organizations. We seek to give back to and support the community with which we live and do so in a socially and environmentally responsible way.

Your donation will help purchase essential start-up items such as:

-La Marzocco commercial espresso machine (~$20,000)

-Coffee bean grinders and drip coffee makers (~$4,000)

-Toaster ovens, refrigerator and prep tables (~$10,000)

-Kitchenware (~$4,000)

-Plants, pots, soil, and grow lights to build the greenspace (~$14,000)

-Furniture including tables, chairs, lounges, lighting (~$20,000)

-Renovations and remodeling of the space (~$20,000)

Every dollar will be put to good use - only a $12 donation can purchase one pound of coffee beans for the shop and a $30 donation can purchase a bag of soil and organic material to help sustain our thriving jungle!

Where are We Now?

The Wild is a registered LLC in California. We are working with a commercial real estate broker to secure the perfect space. We're building relationships with business partners who will supply the coffee beans and the live plants and a close friend is preparing visual models of the space and will assist in the renovations and overall design. We plan to open in San Francisco in the latter half of 2025!
