Hi everyone, I've created this fundraiser to help my lovely niece, Jaime, with her medical expenses, and I'd like to share a little about her. Jaime is a single mom, working hard to support her 21-year-old son who's in college. She's also devoted to her job as an activities director at a nursing home, where she brings kindness and joy every day. She truly has a heart of gold.

On August 27, Jaime underwent a right partial nephrectomy at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville. A small mass was found on her kidney during a CT scan a few months earlier, when she was being checked for diverticulitis. It was an incidental finding, since she had no symptoms. Surgery went well, thankfully, but she will be out of work for several weeks. Unfortunately, unexpected medical bills have already started to pile up. Because the hospital was out of network with her insurance—and only certain specialists perform this surgery—she had no choice but to go there. This has left her with significant expenses while recovering.
