Dear friends, family, and compassionate strangers,
I am reaching out to you on behalf of my brother, Jaime Guzman, who has been bravely battling kidney failure and undergoing dialysis for the past eight years. This past Monday night, Jaime received the life-changing call he’s been waiting for—a kidney donor match at the University of Utah Hospital. With little time to prepare, he traveled from his home in California to Utah the very next morning. On Tuesday, March 17, 2026, Jaime underwent a successful kidney transplant, marking a significant step toward a healthier life.
While we are incredibly grateful for this opportunity, the journey comes with substantial financial burdens. Despite his Medicare and Medi-Cal coverage, Jaime is responsible for 20% of the medical expenses, which is a considerable amount. Additionally, his medical team has advised that he remain in Utah for about two months for ongoing lab work and doctor appointments, requiring extended hotel stays and living expenses far from home.
We are asking for your kindness and support during this challenging time. Any contribution you can make toward Jaime’s medical expenses and living costs will be immensely appreciated. If you’re unable to donate, we kindly ask for your prayers and positive thoughts for Jaime’s recovery and that his body accepts the new kidney. Thank you for taking the time to read Jaime’s story and for your support. We are incredibly grateful for any help you can provide.
