She’s a fighter but really needs your help!

I wish I didn’t have to be here. I hate that I have to do this, but here I am, asking for your help. With so much tragedy going on around us right now, unfortunately I have to tell you about more. Jaime, my beautiful sister, has been diagnosed with  a breast cancer. If this is the first you’ve heard about it, I am truly sorry. I will tell you all about her cancer and her upcoming battle , and keep you updated as the information rolls in, but first id like to tell you a little about the Jaime we all know and love.

Jaime is that beautiful, charismatic, outgoing, tough as nails, rockstar you always knew you needed in your life. She’s mommy to the most amazing 4 children, Nicholas, Peter, Alecia, and Reynah. Jaime has already been thrown so many curveballs in this world, yet she swings with grace. Jaime is joy, Jaime is laughter. She has always been the yin to my yang, that hug I needed in my darkest of days, that ray of light that always shines through, so here I am trying to be just a little bit of light for this beautiful human, and I hope you can help.

As I touched on above, Jaime has been diagnosed with breast cancer. It is stage 3  HER2+ Invasive ductal Carcinoma. Some of those words may seem similar, as our mother and grandmother also had invasive ductal carcinoma. Whats new is the HER2+ protein. HER2 is a protein that unfortunately promotes the growth of cancer cells. I know this sound scary, but breathe, she’s got this. Years ago, doctors didn’t understand why women so young, like my sister, we’re getting breast cancer, and why they weren’t doing well with treatment. Well there have been great advances in this area in the development of immunotherapy. Her doctor has assured us that the HER2 protein responds incredibly well to immunotherapy. So Jaimes first treatments are going to me Immunotherapy every 3 weeks for a year, on top of Chemotherapy every three weeks, 6 times. Hopefully this will shrink her 10 centimeter tumor quite a bit. After this is when the doctors will be broaching  how much radiation and what type surgery she needs, both dependent on how much her tumor shrinks. Most of us know the side effects of chemo, and while we don’t know how exactly she will respond we do know that she will experience many of them. Due to theses effects, and the nature of the world right now, Jaime is absolutely not able to work. So, here is where I am asking for your help. If you can spare anything to help, we would be forever grateful. Help me help my amazing sister concern herself with only her battle and not how she will keep a roof over her head. Please!

P.S. I am happy to answer any questions you may have, and to let you get out any emotions you may have, but I ask you call me, you message me. Of course you are welcome to reach out to Jaime, but lets not make her life only about cancer, and only about worry. She is going to be fine, she is going to rock this, she is the strongest of women! Thank you for taking the time to read this. Thank you for your support! Thank you for your help!
