Hello! I am Sarah and I collect funds to get Jaikel out of prison. Casually, on Monday, June 21rst, Jaikel got stopped by a police officer in San Juan del Sur. The police officer told him he was under arrest for a case in Léon for which he is accused since last year. The legislative system moved him to jail in Léon until trial. However, no real accusations were made against him up until Monday 28th of June. Isn't it weird??
To add to all this crazy and unfair story, there is a new law in Nicaragua that says that they are allowed to keep the accused in jail for 90 days even if the accused is innocent; a result of the political problem in April 2018. As some of you might know, the conditions in jail in Nicaragua are horrible. Jaikel is at the penitentiary of Chinandega. The mom has moved there to take care of Jaikel's food and be able to visit him when possible.
Our goal is to get 16500$US to pay the lawyer fees for the trial. The family tried to borrow money to pay the lawyer, but it is not possible because of their low salary. It would be more than helpful if you want to contribute and help Jaikel get out of jail.
