Support the Schubert Family in Getting a Wheelchair-Accessible Vehicle

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted community members,

We’re reaching out today to ask for your support for a brave and inspiring young man, Jai Schubert, and his devoted family.

Jai lives with Bethlem Myopathy, a rare form of congenital muscular dystrophy that causes progressive muscle weakness and makes everyday mobility a significant challenge. Jai, at only 11 years old, now relies on his wheelchair full-time. Despite this, Jai faces life with determination, humour, and strength that amazes everyone who knows him. While his condition limits his physical participation in many activities, it has never diminished his passion, spirit, or incredible mind.

Jai is a huge sports lover, with an incredible knowledge of all things sport-related — from team stats and player histories to game strategies. He might not be able to get out on the field himself, but his enthusiasm and insight rival that of any commentator or coach. Anyone who talks to Jai about sports walks away inspired and impressed.
Jai is now at the stage, as he continues to grow and get bigger, where he and the family require a wheelchair-accessible vehicle. While vehicle modifications can be funded with assistance from the NDIS, the family first need to purchase a suitable vehicle to be modified.

Recently, Jai experienced a serious accident — he fell from his wheelchair and fractured both legs. This incident has made an already difficult situation even more complex, requiring extensive care and rehabilitation as he heals.

Right now, Jai’s family car is no longer able to safely transport him. With both legs in recovery and his mobility significantly restricted, getting to vital appointments, therapy sessions, and even simple outings has become nearly impossible. The family is relying on public transport and taxi services. When incidents like this happen, having a wheelchair-accessible vehicle becomes even more important.

We are raising funds to help the Schubert family purchase a wheelchair-accessible vehicle. This vehicle will provide:

• Safe and comfortable transport for Jai
• Independence and mobility for Jai and his family

This is more than just a car — it’s a lifeline for Jai and his family’s quality of life going forward.

Any additional funds raised will go towards equipment and support needs for Jai as he continues to grow.

Please consider donating, no matter how big or small — every contribution will make a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to give at this time, a share or a kind word of encouragement means the world, too.

Let’s come together and show the Schubert family what community truly means. Together, we can help Jai get back on the road — to recovery, to independence, and to hope.

With heartfelt thanks
