Help Jahzea Heal After His Father’s Murder
Hi, my name is Elizabeth, and I’m organizing this fundraiser for my best friend Georgina and her sons, Jahzea and Zaliyah. Our families have been intertwined for over a decade. My son Jonas is best friends with Jahzea, so this is deeply personal to me.
In January 2025, the boys’ father, Dom, was murdered in cold blood just steps from their front door. Jahzea went outside looking for his dad and found him lying on the ground. The scene was violent and traumatic, leaving emotional wounds that no young person should have to carry.
Since then, Jahzea has graduated high school and turned 18, which means he no longer qualifies for Medicaid and has no health insurance. He desperately needs professional trauma-focused therapy to move forward. Right now, he is stuck in the depths of grief and struggling to take his next steps in life.
The fam has had no choice but to remain in the same apartment where the tragedy happened. Every day, they are surrounded by the memory of that horrific night. They urgently need to move, but simply cannot afford it.
Georgina is a self-employed single mother who has done everything she can to hold things together. Work has slowed to a crawl, and she suffers from a back injury that causes constant pain. Her doctors have advised her to go on disability, but because she is self-employed, that is not an option. Financially, she is at a standstill.
This fundraiser is about giving Jahzea the chance to heal and start fresh.. to step into adulthood with the tools, therapy, and stability he needs to thrive.
What We’re Asking For
$2,300 for immediate rent assistance
$10,000 for one year of trauma-focused therapy
$35,000 to move out of the apartment and start over (covers first and last month’s rent, deposit, and six months of rent)
Georgina never asks for help, but she has reached the end of her resources. The priority is about helping her son find peace and stability after unimaginable loss, at a CRUCIAL time in his development. I’ve included pictures that show their spirit and the beautiful friendship our families have shared for so many years.
If you can give, thank you from the bottom of my heart. If you can’t donate, sharing this link will help more than you know. If you or someone you know has a large audience, please share it there as well.
In the name of love and friendship,
