Hi, my name is Ashley, and I am reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for support for my dear friend, Jahmika.

Just weeks ago, Jahmika was in a devastating car accident on the highway near Cranbrook, BC — a violent crash that nearly claimed her life. She was airlifted by STARS helicopter to Calgary Hospital in critical condition. What doctors discovered was heartbreaking:

• Both sides of her jaw shattered

• Lower spine broken

• 6 ribs broken

• Hand broken in two places

• Hip broken and rotated, leaving her leg twisted backwards

• A compound fracture near her ankle (where bone pierced the skin)

• A break in her shinbone at the knee joint

• And partially collapsed lungs that made every breath a struggle

Jahmika had been asleep in the passenger seat when the impact hurled luggage forward with such force that it crushed her seat, folding her body unnaturally, while the airbag shattered her jaw. She regained consciousness pinned between her headrest and the dashboard — unaware of the immense trauma her body had just endured.

Since then, she has already endured over 16 hours of surgery, with more procedures and months of rehabilitation still ahead. She faces a long, painful, and uncertain road to recovery. At this moment, she can barely move, and the simplest daily tasks are impossible without help.

On top of the physical and emotional toll, Jahmika is unable to work — leaving her with no income while medical, rehabilitation, and living expenses pile up quickly. She is someone who has always given of herself generously, but now she finds herself in a place where she needs us — her friends, her community, and the kindness of strangers — to help hold her up.
