Hi everyone, my name is Jenni, mom to 2 French bulldogs, Jett and Jagger, littermates born on 5/6/22. On Wednesday night, Jagger was in immense pain and lost the use of his back legs. We went to 3 emergency vets to discover that he has the symptoms of IVDD, a disease that breaks down the jelly part of the discs in the back. When the discs move, they can hit the spinal cord which is why he was unable to use his back legs due to the inflammation.
The vet advised I hospitalize him immediately, get an MRI then emergency surgery to fix the discs. However in order to do so, they gave me a $15,000 bill to pay upfront. Unable to afford this, I had to leave the clinic with Jagger but was able to get a week's supply of pain medicine to buy me a little time to decide what to do. (Thank you to my angel friend who helped with this expense <3)
Another friend suggested a clinic that has MRI's starting at 3K (most of them are 5-7K) of which I booked a consultation for Monday with their neurologist. Based on what I'm reading, surgery is the best course of action followed by physical therapy which is really really expensive. I do have pet insurance for him, but they advised that it's a 2-3 month waiting period for approval and funds can only be reimbursed upon approval not fronted.
I feel silly even asking because there's so many other horrors happening in our world, but I need help to cover these expenses so that my baby can have the best quality of life. For those who know me, Jett and Jagger are my children. I would do anything for them, it's just the 3 of us so any proceeds will help me make the best decision for their care during this difficult time. Thank you for the support and even taking the time to read our story and share with your friends. Means the world to us <3
