Hi, thanks for taking the time to read about our son Jaeger and why we are asking for your help.

Jaeger is our beautiful 4 year old son. He was diagnosed with Autism, a severe speech delay and global developmental delay a year ago. 

For all the love that we get from him his autism makes everyday life very hard for him and the family.  Social, learning, speech, development, safety and sensory challenges are only the beginning. Our biggest fear is that Jaeger doesn’t seem to understand language at all. This makes it extremely hard to know what is going on with him, especially when he is sick or when he gets hurt and this breaks our hearts. It’s our dream to one day have a conversation with our little boy and to hear his thoughts and feelings the way his siblings are able to communicate. For him to one day be able to communicate with his peers would just be a miracle. 

We have been on a journey to try and help him as much as we possibly can. He has a paediatrician, regular speech pathologist, psychologist and occupational therapist that work with us as a family to help regulate him and his needs. He uses melatonin every night which costs $75 a month just so he can sleep, unfortunately this is a private prescribed medication not on the PBS yet. Without this he wakes up several times a night making loud noises, clapping and screaming.

We have tried to teach him sign language but this has been extremely slow with a few signs like “help” being used. We are also in the process of trialing speech devices to see if this will improve his communication and relieve his frustrations. We feel we owe it to him to try even harder to see if there are other avenues we can explore but unfortunately we have limited funds to put forward.

We have come across a very interesting form of therapy used in assisting children with autism. The Perth Brain Centre’s main focus is providing a drug-free solution for children with Autism including Neurofeedback Therapy, targeted lifestyle and dietary advice, Behavioural Therapy and Psycho-Education

We will provide updates of Jaeger’s progress and hopefully if successful it can help other families explore the same option.

We will display results of his initial special QEEG (Quantitative Electro-Encephalogram) brain scan. 

He will then do 10x sessions of neurofeedback therapy, 2-3 times a week.

A second QEEG scan will be done to see if there has been any improvement.

10x more sessions will then be performed and another QEEG scan will be done to compare results.

If successful it will be an ongoing treatment. 

We hope we’re able to raise the funds to get Jaeger started as soon as possible. We were told the younger the patient the higher chance of success.

We would like to start with this treatment before we have our baby in January. We will then store stem cells from the babies umbilical cord to hopefully help Jaeger with stem cell treatment in the future. This is our back-up next plan after we try the neurofeedback theraphy.
