Support Jade & Jennifer Rebuild After Fire: Home & Pets Lost
Donation protected
Dear Friends and Community,
My name is Justin Murray. Today, I reach out with an extremely heavy heart on behalf of my dearest cousin whom I call my sister (Jade Alexis Habig) and her devoted, loving mother, my aunt (Jennifer Habig), who have endured a heartbreaking, and life shattering loss.
Recently, their home was destroyed by a devastating fire caused by an unsuspecting, faulty, E-bike lithium battery, marking the third such unbelievable tragedy in their lives. The 1st fire was in 2016, a propane leak took their home, no insurance. Then after years of rebuilding they were hit with the horrific Northern California wildfire complex fires of 2020, which once again decimated everything on their beautiful property, and sadly impacted too many…
This time the flames took more than their possessions. It took everything. Gone is a sense of safety and security. Gone are their animals, Bear Bear and Ayla. What's left is a painful void and deep sorrow. Jade & Jennifer were rushed from the scene in an ambulance to the hospital where they were treated for smoke inhalation.
They heroically but unsuccessfully went back in with their house engulfed in flames to try to save their animals. Jade did find their dog “Bear Bear", which she tried to drag out with her last breath. She made it, he did not. Her mother was at the back door unable to re-enter because she had no more breath left. She was screaming for her babies to come out,
a mother’s worst nightmare.
I’d call them Phoenixes. In a world that often asks us to calcify our hearts, this family embodies a softness while still maintaining a bold resilience, grace and gratitude, despite the relentless challenges they have faced in the past. This family creates beauty wherever they go.
It’s been one of those years where our family has had to endure so many difficult hits. My own mother was
in a coma for 2 months and diagnosed with lung cancer just before Christmas. Jade and Jennifer slept on a chair in the hospital almost every night. In February, we lost our most amazing, creative, autistic cousin, Colt Bartz. Jade & Jennifer were very close to him and were a part of his caretaking team. Despite the challenges in their own lives, they have always been by our sides.
They are the first to give to others, the first ones to be in the car to come help, and the last to ask for favors. Now they find themselves in urgent need of our support. We are initiating this fundraiser to secure a home for them to live, a sanctuary where they can seek solace, heal, and eventually find joy.
Imagine losing not just the walls that surround you, but the sense of security and comfort that comes along with them, not once, but three times. Now, they are left with nothing but a cramped travel trailer with faulty wiring. They face the monumental task of rebuilding their lives yet again.
The funds raised will be used to purchase a safe, stable home and to replace the essential items that turn a space into a place of warmth and love. Also, they are both amazing artists and this money will go to helping them replace their tools that create beauty for the world. We need your help to lift them from this crisis and loss back to hope.
Here's how you can help:
•Donate: Every dollar adds up and makes a significant impact on their ability to start anew.
•Share: Spread the word. Sometimes, the right person sees a shared post and can change everything.
•Encourage: Leave a message of support. Your words mean more than you know.
We believe in the power of community and kindness, and we know that with your support, we can restore not just a dwelling, but a loving home for two sincere, deserving souls.
Thank you for your compassion, generosity, and for choosing to stand by a family who despite their losses, continues to believe in the power of love. In the power of the human condition.
Your support means the world to us and to them.
***Please take a moment and read this passage directly from my remarkable cousin, Jade Alexis:
“And some day when my hands are filled with water, I will proffer it with every particle of love I have to the next mouth who is in search of it. For Heaven would be no place at all without your myriad of selves.”
