Jalah and Jada Hemingway are twin sisters from a modest single-parent household in Loris, South Carolina. As students at Clemson University, they have worked hard to earn scholarships and pursue their dreams. I have had the privilege of coaching and mentoring them through our church and the First Tee Golf Program, where their dedication and character have always stood out.
Recently, filmmaker JJ Anderson, known for the Hulu film Sacred Soil, was searching for twins to feature in her new film and exhibit, 'Sometimes I Feel Like I’m Almost Home,' commissioned by the California Museum of African American History. I introduced Jada and Jada to this opportunity, and they were selected to play the part of Sunflower in the film. Now, the exhibit is on display in Los Angeles, and I want to help them travel there during their spring break to experience the exhibit they are featured in firsthand.
The funds raised will go directly toward airfare, lodging, meals, and other travel expenses for their trip. As a pastor, I am committed to teaching character and exposing young people in marginalized communities to opportunities they might not otherwise have. I often tell the children in our small, rural community, 'You can get anywhere from here!' With your support, we can make this true for Jada and Jada, giving them an unforgettable experience and inspiring others in our community. Please join us in making this journey possible for these remarkable young women.
