May 4, 2023 Fundraiser Update:

We are so grateful for your continued support for Jacqulyn and her family. Unfortunately in January 2023, Jacqulyn suffered a debilitating stroke. At this time, she recognizes that she needs to move closer to family in California who can sustainably support her health. She has estimated it will cost around $2,500 for moving and other medical expenses. The official move date is May 15th and we need to raise these funds by then. Fall 2022

Jacqulyn is a single mother and head chef/owner of Willie Mae’s Soul Food in Tacoma, WA. During the pandemic, Jacqulyn’s primary sources of income shut down and she was forced to take on different work. While on the job at FedEx, a severe accident broke her knee in 4 parts. Since then, she’s had two surgeries, including a total knee replacement, and has a third surgery scheduled this Friday. She currently relies on a walker to get around and cannot take on any new catering gigs until she is fully healed.

Due to the unreliability of her worker’s compensation and changes to income as a result of the accident, Jacqulyn and her family are at risk of being evicted from their multigenerational home. Not only is Jacqulyn a single mother, but her elderly mother also lives in the same household.

This is urgent! We need to raise $5000 in back rent by November 1st to keep Jacqulyn and her family in their home and off the streets.
