Help Jacqueline Replace Vandalized Tires

Donation protected
My friend Jacqueline Dotzenrod is going through some harassment at her apartment building and her landlord won't do anything. Her car was vandalized and her tires were all slashed. She needs to get them replaced and can't quite afford to do so. Tires are expensive! She also needs to pay for a tow job and diagnostics and other miscellaneous car things.

From her:

"Can't sleep tonight. Someone slashed my tires. It was likely one of my neighbors. I live in a housing project that houses some unstable people. It was likely one of the men who pressured me for sex and I refused them outright. It could be the man who was harassing me recently. It could be the man who assaulted me over the recent holiday weekend. It could be a violent man from somewhere deeper in my past. Tonight, I was advised by law enforcement to leave my home for the sake of my own safety.

Trouble is, the place I live is in a beautiful community. I love going to the library - just visited there a few days ago and was thinking of asking about a volunteer job there. I was planning to run for a seat on the local park board with the goal of making its facilities more accessible. Best of all, my support animals can enjoy the outdoors away from traffic and off-leash dogs. The only threat to them is my neighbors and now that threat is very real.

I have never known a woman who had her tires slashed and that was the end of it. The violence always escalates. They damaged my most valuable piece of property, rendering it inoperable and I cannot afford to repair it. Their next step is to damage what is closest to my heart.

Still, I keep thinking about how the definition of insanity is repeating old patterns expecting different results. I have run from violent men in the past. I gave up a promising career in EMS because I ran. I gave up valuable friendships because I ran. And I have given up on homes I love because I ran. Maybe it's time I stopped running.

I don't know if I have that kind of courage, but I may not have any other choice since I cannot afford to move - physically and financially, I cannot afford it. My landlord is aware of a myriad of lease violations by several dangerous tenants, but still they do nothing. When I asked them to install security cameras on the property, they did nothing. Unfortunately, there is not one single attorney in the entire state that represents tenants and so I can do nothing to effectively defend myself against these violent men.
Women wind up dead when the only option we have is to wait for the violence to escalate."
