Help Jacqualine Overcome Health Challenges and Medical Bills

Donation protected
Anyone who knows my mom Jacqualine Rogers, loves her. Adores her, actually. She was always a vibrant woman and teacher who loved nothing more than helping kids around her by bringing art, theatre, literature and so much more into their lives – to the point they still remember her contributions some 30-40+ years later as highlights of their educational journey.

As a mom, she was always fierce and protective of her kids – often going to bat against awful teachers, bullies, etc. She fought against many opponents to get Santa Susana Performing Arts and Technology Magnet High School open in 1996 by speaking in front of the school board as well as news outlets. After a traumatic incident for myself in first grade with a teacher who shall remain nameless, she pulled me out and homeschooled me for 2 years – in addition to taking care of my two sisters.

Now the time has come that we need to take care of her. After countless health issues and problems, including having both uterine and cervical cancer back in 2005 - which she beat, however, multiple surgeries and radiation therapy took its toll on her body. Following that, she was diagnosed with chronic COPD from secondhand smoke, causing her to be tethered to an oxygen machine and nebulizer treatments 24/7 for the remainder of her life. She also has mobility issues and can no longer walk without major assistance. And these are just a few of her ailments.

Recently back in December of 2023, she was taken into the hospital by ambulance, which resulted in her having pneumonia and the very beginnings of congestive heart failure. While in the hospital with that, my wonderful and vibrant mother was diagnosed with the beginnings of dementia – a horrible disease that my grandfather (her father) succumbed to in 2017. Following her recent stay in the hospital, she was sent to a skilled nursing facility to receive therapy, among other things – and has remained here ever since. And while being here, her memory has been taking a nosedive and it is scary to witness.

So here comes the reason I am writing this. We need help and most of all, she needs help. I am not entirely sure she will be able to come home, as I am her sole caretaker, and her care is so much more than I can handle – both mentally and physically. Her medical bills are totaling $3K/month and we are barely making ends meet. In addition to that $3K, our other bills and rising costs of everything – we need some serious assistance.

So, if you can please find it in your heart to donate what you can to help her, it would be appreciated.

Thank you so much for your time,

Patrick Rogers
