Hi everyone, I’m here to tell Jacob’s story. On 3rd November 2025 Jacobs van broke down and whilst awaiting recovery a artic lorry hit his stationary van resulting in life changing injuries. After battling the odds of survival , Jacob has proved the drs wrong time and time again and has made masses of progress over the last 8 months. He was due to be discharged 8th June however the NHS feel he needed further rehab before returning home however they could not facilitate his needs at the current hospital and are now wanting to send him a minimum of 2 hours away to a further rehab centre for a minimum of 4 months. Jacob has strongly declined this multiple times however due to not being deemed at capacity in their eyes sadly the decision of him refusing to go isn’t enough for them to send him home. The option for home care has been looked at however with the NHS being at a strain with funds, the community physio and care he would need wouldn’t meet his needs. The average cost for private care would be a minimum of £50,000 to ensure he can come home and also get what he needs with the right support. I’m doing this as a desperate partner, mother and his voice of reason. Jacob has been in immense distress with not being able to come home and the worry of being taken 2 hours away where I will no longer be able to visit him daily or facilitate him having regular contact with his children. He is a incredible young man at 29 years of age and is so determined to continue to beat the odds. However I want him to be happy doing this and feel he shouldn’t have to choose between ripped away from his family or getting better. I’m asking for everyone’s help as I’ve tried every avenue to get him home with the most help and sadly this is the last resort. Everyday that goes by is another day he’s away from any sort of comfort or familiarity he knows. Please help us make this happen. Thank you for reading and for your support.
