Jacob’s Story
Dear friends, family, and kind supporters,
My little brother, Jacob, is just 2 years old and already fighting the biggest battle of his life. Jacob has been diagnosed with a rare genetic condition called DeSanto-Shinawi syndrome (DESSH), also known as WAC syndrome and is the only person in the Republic of Ireland with this rare syndrome.
This condition affects development in many ways causing low muscle tone, delays in walking and talking, and other challenges that make everyday life much harder for him than it should ever be for a child, despite all the obstacles, Jacob is the happiest little boy his smile lights up every room, and his laughter is contagious. He may not yet walk or talk, but his determination and spirit inspire us every single day.
WHY Your donation will help.
Recently, Jacob was given an incredible, once in a lifetime opportunity, a special treatment program in America that could change his life forever. This therapy is designed to give children like Jacob the chance to develop skills many of us take for granted like walking, talking, and gaining independence.
We have been offered an appointment this September, which means we have just a short time to raise the funds needed. The treatment, travel, accommodation, and care are extremely expensive, and as a family we cannot do this alone.
What Your Donations Will Go Towards
>Flights and travel expenses to the U.S.
>The intensive treatment and therapy program
>Accommodation and living costs while Jacob is in America
>Medical supplies and equipment to support his progress
>Ongoing care once he returns home
What This Could Mean for Jacob
This treatment could be life changing. It could mean Jacob taking his first steps. It could mean hearing his first words. It could mean giving him the chance to grow up with more independence and a brighter future ahead of him. We know there are no guarantees, but this is the best chance Jacob has ever had and we cannot let it slip away.

With your support, we can give Jacob the chance he truly deserves a chance to walk, to talk, and to experience life without the limitations of his condition holding him back.
Together, we can make this dream a reality.
With love and gratitude,
