Help Jacob Senediak’s Fight Against Brain Cancer
Donation protected
Jacob, 6 years old, was diagnosed with a terrible form of brain cancer in December 2019 known as "DIPG" for which there is no known cure. Jacob has fought this disease every day since with incredible toughness and bravery bringing new science into the fight against cancer for all. He has already beaten the odds to still be fighting after 11 months, but he needs your help to give him the best chance to survive and continue to forge the roadmap towards a cure for himself and for other children. All donations will be used to support Jacob's medical care, and any remaining funds will be donated to support DIPG research.
Jacob was doing very well keeping the tumor in check, hiking, learning math, and knocking the cover off of baseballs with his homerun swing, but Jacob now has pneumonia, which caused him to stop breathing on December 9th. While his parents were frantically trying to administer CPR, his hero 8 year old brother, Zackery, got expert help- a couple nearby who were EMTs along with facility staff bringing an AED who all together got Jacob to an ambulance and to the hospital successfully and on time to prevent further damage.
Jacob is still in the hospital fighting the pneumonia and getting better. He has been intubated for almost one week, but he is getting stronger every day. Jacob continues to communicate to his doctors that he is going to be a doctor someday too, even wanting to vacuum his own tube before nurses did it for him.
Jacob has already participated in two Phase One studies. The first that seeks to use immunotherapy to combat the disease, and the second that is testing a form of chemotherapy. Jacob has handled all of these treatments like a pro and even tries to help other children getting treatment. When his doctors told him that they were trying to squeeze in another little boy for treatment right after him, Jacob leaped into the little car that the children drive to the treatment room, drove directly to the room and followed all the doctor's directions perfectly so that the other little boy would be able to get his treatment too.
As Jacob beats this pneumonia, he will continue battling his tumor and forging the roadmap for beating this disease forward for all. Please help him continue the fight for both himself and for all that will follow his roadmap in the future. Experimental medicine means taking risks, sometimes dangerous and expensive ones, but Jacob’s incredibly broad shoulders can and will carry this fight forward.
Jacob was so happy when he turned 6 years old in September that he chose number 6 as his baseball number. Please help Jacob get back to playing baseball as number 7!
