When someone posts on Facebook needing work done on their car, multiple people will respond with "Jacob Morse" or "Vintage Auto". He's known for his quality of work but also for the person is. Jacob is someone who is friendly, a born teacher, and humble.
He's helped so many people in the community with their cars. But for us it was personal. My husband always worked on our cars, but when he couldn't, he sent them to Jacob. After the death of my husband I relied heavily on Jacob, as we seemed to be continuously going through cars breaking down, blowing up, or being in an accident. He was always patient and kind, even when having his own issues. He taught things to my older son who was becoming a mechanic, and helped my younger son be safer while building a race car. He didn't do these things for praise or attention, it's just who he is.
On Sunday, September 14th, Vintage Auto caught fire. All three volunteer fire departments worked together to contain the fire and put it out, but not before the shop was destroyed. At this time, insurance will not be assisting and Jacob finds himself in a terrible situation, only 18 months after having many items in his shop stolen.
I know as a community, many of you love him and want to support him. I ask that you do that both by giving to this go fund me, and sharing it with others so they can also give.
I spoke with the owner of The Oil Well, and he shared with me the reality of prices for replacing just some of the things that Jacob needs beyond tools and a building:
-air compressor $2,000-3,000
-lifts $2,000-5,000
- car scanner $5,000
Given the catastrophic level of Jacob's situation, it's easy to think a small donation like $20 is meaningless. While large donations are essential, our collective small contributions will also make a significant impact.
Let's show Jacob how important he is to this community!
