My name is Tiffany, and I am Jacob's sister.
On August 20th, Jacob was headed to work and was hit on his motorcycle. He was thrown from his bike and has several serious injuries, and we are still waiting for some tests to know the extent of the damage. His leg was broken, severing an artery. Thankfully, his dad was in front of him, and several people stopped to offer assistance. His dad quickly used his belt as a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. He ended up losing half of his blood volume due to the artery and several other lacerations. Yesterday, they did an emergency surgery to prevent amputation of the leg. They were able to place a rod and pins in his leg but had to do two large incisions to allow room for swelling. He will need to have several other surgeries to clean the wound and eventually close the incisions back up. His jaw is broken in three different places and is currently in surgery to place pins in the jaw to repair the breaks, as well as wiring his jaw shut, so he won't be able to eat solid food for 6 to 8 weeks. All of his front teeth, top and bottom, were broken off at the gums and will have to be surgically removed. His ear is fractured. We are waiting for an MRI to confirm if he has a break in his back or not.
Jacob currently is the sole provider for his family. Shiana has a genetic neurological disorder that prevents her from working. They have a 6-year-old daughter, my niece Gia. He is expected to be in the hospital for a minimum of a week and will need months of therapy and follow-up surgeries. Jacob is a very proud man and doesn't like to ask for help, so I am doing it for him. I created this in hopes to get help with their bills as he won't be able to work and does not have any type of disability or paid time at work, so if he isn't there, he doesn't get paid. I know times are very hard for everyone, and we all appreciate any help that he can get, even if it is just sharing this. We are all so thankful that he survived the accident and didn't lose his leg and would really like to prevent him from losing his home as well.
