Hello Community,

My name is Marlynn Armas, and I am writing to request your help. On Friday, November 22, 2024, my worst nightmare happened. I learned that while attempting to cross the street in the crosswalk near our home in Van Nuys to get to the bus stop on his way to school, my son Jacob was hit and dragged by a car. The driver was making a right hand turn and didn't see Jacob in the crosswalk. The force of the impact was so painful that Jacob lost consciousness.

Immediately, Jacob was transported to the hospital where they performed an emergency surgery on Jacob to reattach part of his finger that was removed from the accident. The hospital also discovered that Jacob's hip was fractured, meaning that Jacob is currently wheelchair bound for the time being and unable to walk until he is fully recovered.

2 weeks before Jacob's accident happened, I gave birth to my new baby and went on maternity leave from my job. This caused a loss to our family's income before the accident. Since Jacob's accident, now my husband has been required to take more time off of his work to be in the hospital to visit Jacob and to help with other necessities that are impacting our family now. That being said, we are financially in a really difficult position right now, and as such I am asking for the community to please consider from the kindness of your hearts to please donate to support our family during this emergency.

I pray that my son Jacob will reach a full recover as soon as possible and that I am able to watch him run and play with his friends outside without the wheelchair which he is currently recovering in at his young age of 12.
