I’m reaching out to share the story of my 17-year-old cousin Jacob from Georgia. Jacob is an extraordinary young man who had big dreams of becoming a football player. He was thriving in his football academy, dedicating himself with passion and perseverance. He was full of life, driven by his love for learning and desire to master new skills.

However, on July 3, 2023, tragedy struck. Jacob was involved in a devastating car accident that has turned his world upside down and left him with severe facial injuries. His upper jaw was fractured, his right nasal septum broken, and he has lost one eye. He also has a penetrating hole in the roof of his mouth, and his teeth were badly affected. Jacob has already undergone two life-saving surgeries, during which surgeons removed non-viable bone fragments.

Jacob’s recovery journey is far from over. He still requires two complex surgeries, which are only possible at Memorial Clinic in Turkey. These surgeries, led by a maxillofacial specialist, would reconstruct Jacob’s facial bones using implants. He will also need an eye implant to restore some of what he has lost. However, the cost of these procedures is estimated at $85,000—a sum far beyond what Jacob’s family can afford.

Jacob’s family has already sold everything they own, doing everything they can to give him a chance to heal, but it is not enough. His mother watches him suffer every day, holding on to hope and praying for a miracle. We are reaching out for help, no matter how small, to help Jacob find relief from his pain and to give him back a sense of normalcy.
