Help Jacob Lake Inn Recover from Dragon Bravo Fire
Donation protected
Friends of Jacob Lake Inn, if you have been paying attention to the news, Jacob Lake Inn has been inundated with another forest fire, the White Sage Fire, the second forest fire in five years. Jacob Lake Inn miraculously survived the Mangum Forest Fire in 2020, and now they are dealing with two very active forest fires on the North Rim: the White Sage Fire within miles of the Inn, but also the Dragon Bravo Fire, which, unfortunately, has completely destroyed the Grand Canyon North Rim lodge and Bright Angel Point. I visited Jacob Lake in 2020 when the Mangum fire broke out and witnessed firsthand the colossal effort it requires to evacuate staff to safety and provide for thier needs during evacuation and afterward. The Dragon Bravo Fire and the closure of the North Rim is financially devastating for Jacob Lake Inn and North Rim communities, leaving the Inn without the traffic and draw of tourists to the incredible North Rim viewpoints, they dont know how they will sustain the number of employees currently employed, as well as recover from losses of goods from evacuation, recovery, and cleanup once they return.
Jacob Lake Inn has been on the Kaibab Plateau for over 100 years, a historic landmark that has been an integral part of the North Rim experience. Jacob Lake Inn is a wonderful place where we have created magical memories throughout the years. I am calling on all of us who cherish our memories and experiences at Jacob Lake Inn to assist in their efforts to support their displaced employees as they await the results of the White Sage Fire and Dragon Bravo Fire and sustain them as they seek to recover from the catastrophic changes to the North Rim economy and experience.
