Jacob is my dear friend, just 19 years old, and he’s facing something no one should have to: grade IV malignant diffuse midline glioma, a very rare, inoperable brain cancer. This condition is terminal, and life has not been easy for Jacob as he spent his childhood living mostly in motels and did not have a real home until the age of 13, when he moved in with his father. He recently lost his father less than a year ago, and through all of this, his 21-year-old brother has been the only constant in his life, always by his side and continuing to support him every step of the way.
Despite these hardships and this heartbreaking diagnosis, Jacob’s spirit remains unbreakable. He’s the kind of person who always has a smile on his face and tells the best Jo Mama jokes, bringing laughter to everyone around him. His kindness and positivity are truly contagious, and everyone that has encountered him has found out that to know him is to love him.
When Jacob learned about his diagnosis, his first reaction was how he could help others. He immediately decided to donate his organs, and his brain will be given to a doctor who is researching his specific type of rare cancer. Even in the face of such a difficult journey, Jacob’s generosity and selflessness shine through.
Jacob has a few wishes he hopes to fulfill: first and foremost, returning to his birthplace of Honolulu, Hawaii where he was born, seeing some of his favorite bands in concert, and eating as much pizza as he possibly can. These simple experiences would bring him immense joy and comfort during this time.
Your support will help make these wishes come true and honor the incredible person Jacob is. Any contribution, big or small, will mean the world to him and everyone who loves him. Thank you for helping us celebrate his life and spirit.
