Help Jacob Explore Italy's Rich History and Culture

Ciao everyone!

My name is Jacob, and I'm currently studying in the field of Biology/Pre-Med at Saint Vincent College. I've been presented with an incredible opportunity to take my education beyond the classroom and immerse myself in the rich history and vibrant culture of Italy. During this trip, I'll be staying in a Benedictine Monastery (Sant'Anselmo all'Aventino) in Rome, just 20 minutes outside of the Vatican.

This trip isn't just a vacation; it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in my academic journey. I've been accepted into the Summer Institute in Rome and plan to take classes related to Roman political thought and cultural history, as well as a course that focuses on Galileo's physics and astronomy. This hands-on experience will provide invaluable insights and perspectives that simply can't be gained from textbooks on campus alone.

During this trip, I'll primarily be staying in Rome but also exploring more parts of Italy such as Florence, Assisi, Montecassino, and Pompeii/Venice. These opportunities will allow me not only to explore current-day sights but vividly learn the history behind Italy as a whole.

The cost of this transformative journey, including travel, accommodation, program fees, and living expenses, is significant. The funds I am seeking from this GoFundMe will be used to cover the costs for the classes as well as textbooks. The base costs of the trip were already paid for, but this extra set of costs led me to reach out for assistance.
