Hello,
Some of you may have observed by meeting me in person my breasts were very large. Believe it or not I went up two cup sizes this past year and the pain had gotten more and more debilitating. I suffer from back pain, migraines and pcos. Depending on my cycle the pain in my breasts and back were very severe. I’ve had to lay down a few times a day everyday just to get the weight off my body. I also had to change my bra at least 2-3 times a day and had to go to the gym daily to do exercises to help alleviate the weight. I couldn’t afford to gain any amount of weight because i would gain it in my breasts and buying bras my size is very expensive. I was a 32-34 double G cup on a 5” 126pound body.
So I’m writing to you all today because I have made the decision to finally go through with getting breast reduction surgery. I’ve been trying to get this surgery since I was 18 years old. And it finally happened this week. I can already tell you even though I’m in recovery pain this is already changing my life for the best.
4 years ago I started trying to make steps to get this life changing procedure covered through insurance. Unfortunately this next to impossible to do in the state of Louisiana. There is currently no surgeons in the whole state who accept any kind of insurance for this surgery. I’ve seen many doctors and have talked to many people. I’ve even gotten laughed by doctors here in the state of Louisiana for even trying to go through the steps of coverage. I’ve thought about moving to get this done. But it could take months to get everything switched over and accepted for medical coverage and then up to a year of physical therapy and all the other steps to just get approved for the surgery. I was reading that some states only approve certain amounts of tissue could removed to be covered by insurance. It seems crazy to do all of that and not be near my support systems and income sources.
My life is here in New Orleans, and i didn’t want to move away from the way I make a living, my friends, my home, and my community for the equivalent cost in time to get this very necessary surgery done. This surgery has cost me about $12,600, and currently I won’t be able to work for about a month. I’ve got a medical credit card which will cover the surgery up front but all of this has put me 12,600$ in debt on top of regular living expenses. I am asking for help in the form of $$. If anyone is willing and able to contribute it would be life changing and so very helpful.
Thanks for reading and contributing,
