Hi, my name is Brandi, and I’m the mother of a beautiful, bright 3 year old little boy named Jackson. Since September 16, 2024, our world has been turned upside down.
That was the day Jackson had his first seizure — one that left him blue and unresponsive on the floor. My mother, who was babysitting while I was at work, found him and called 911. It was one of the most terrifying moments of our lives… and it was only the beginning.
Since then, Jackson has had seizures nearly every day. He’s been diagnosed with treatment-resistant epilepsy — four different types of seizures, some lasting seconds, others minutes. He’s tried five different medications and combinations, but nothing has stopped them. He’s had as many as 32 seizures in a single day, and now most of them happen in his sleep, putting him at serious risk for SUDEP (Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy).
We believe our home environment is contributing to his condition. Around the time of his first seizure, I discovered a serious mold problem in our basement and shed. While some cleanup has been done, there has since been another major leak that was not properly addressed and the conditions remain unsafe. I’ve also developed troubling neurological symptoms, likely from the same exposure. Doctors have warned us that even a possible environmental trigger should be taken seriously.

We Found a Safer Home — But We Need Help to Get There
A new house--safe, clean, mold-free-is
not just about comfort. It could literally save Jackson's life. It's a healthy space where Jackson can rest, recover, and be a kid again.
We've been blessed to find a new place, and I've managed to cover the deposit to secure it. But I still need help covering the remaining moving costs, catching up on some essential bills, and ensuring I can make ends meet while I take the necessary time to focus on my son.
Getting this house is the most hopeful thing to happen to us in months.
What We Need Help With:
Remaining move-in costs (1st month and last months rent) plus moving expenses
One additional month’s rent to stabilize
Car repairs to stay mobile for appointments/work
Past-due electric bill (to transfer service)
Food costs (Jackson is starting on a ketogenic diet)
Essential equipment: SAMi camera to monitor seizures at night
Regular house cleaning to protect our mental/physical health
Debt repayment to employer who helped with previous expenses
Total goal: $10,000
Why This Matters So Much
I’ve missed weeks of work, and had to return only part-time due to the demands of round-the-clock caregiving and available, qualified childcare options. My son needs constant attention. Even taking a shower makes me anxious — what if he has a seizure and I don’t hear it?
We use a video monitor, but I’m trying to get a SAMi seizure-detection camera, which alarms when it detects seizure-like movement. It could literally help save his life while giving me a moment to breathe, eat, or rest.
Every day I feel pulled in all directions — worried about my child’s health, our living conditions, and how to keep up with bills and basic needs. I want to be a joyful, present, playful mom again. I want to be the version of myself that my son deserves — not just the version stuck in survival mode.
Your Help Means Everything
If you’ve read this far, thank you. If you can help in any way — whether through a donation or sharing this fundraiser — you’re helping lift a massive weight off one mother’s shoulders.
You're not just helping us move. You're helping my entire family, including my other children and my 2 month old grandson, get to an all around healthier, safer and better environment.
You're helping a mother rest just enough to keep going.
You're giving me peace of mind that my family is safe.
And in the most literal sense:
This move could save Jackson’s life.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for anything you can give.
