Hello friends. I’ve set this page up on behalf of my very dear friends, Jackie Lee and Brittany Do, who unfortunately lost their apartment in a horrific fire in the early hours of Sunday morning.
If you know Jackie and Brittany, you know how much their four-unit Westlake apartment building meant to them. Over the past two years, they filled those walls with so much light and joy, and were always an open and loving place for so many of our friends and family.
Unfortunately, a little past midnight on March 2, 2025, Jackie and Brittany’s downstairs neighbor awoke to a blaze. The neighbor alerted other residents who were home, and miraculously, everybody inside made it out safely. As you can see from the photos, the fire moved quickly and caused severe destruction; it took 90 firefighters to put out, and all four units in the building have been declared uninhabitable moving forward.
Jackie, Brittany, and the rest of their beautiful community are now stuck in the tough position of having to rebuild their lives as they know it. Thankfully, Jackie and Brittany are out of Los Angeles at the moment, but they have no furniture and no home to return to this spring. Likewise, their subleasers, our friends Bridget and Ishi, sustained significant damages to their personal belongings. Despite the generous support of emergency response organizations in the initial aftermath, this transition will take a significant amount of time and resources for everyone involved. Jackie and Brittany are hoping to return to Los Angeles as soon as possible to assess damages and navigate the logistics of losing their home.
As my friends sort through these daunting next steps, I wanted to open donations up to our community in an effort to alleviate the stresses that come with this kind of destruction. Any amount of support in the wake of this sudden tragedy is appreciated tremendously, and as always, sharing is caring! Any reposts of the fundraiser are equally appreciated.
All the love from Jackie, Brittany, Ishi, Bridget, and the rest of my community that continues to be uplifted by the four of them. I hope we can return the favor by lifting them up in these trying times. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading this far.
