Jack, our goofy, 3-year-old Staffy–Frenchie mix, has cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) disease in both back knees. He now limps, avoids stairs, and can’t play without pain.

We were quoted $5,100 per surgery (baseline, not including rehab/meds). He needs surgery on both knees, starting with the left on Sept 17th—our 8-year wedding anniversary. We can’t do this alone.

We’re Matt and Josh, and this is about Jack—our 3-year-old Staffordshire/French bulldog mix who is equal parts silly, sweet, and soulful. Jack came into Josh’s life at a time when he was carrying a lot of past hurt and depression. Jack became his northern light—steady, goofy, and healing. Watching the bond between them has been one of the most beautiful parts of our life together.

After some pretty hard playing Jack’s health changed fast. He began to limp, hesitate at stairs, and hold one back leg up after just a few steps. The veterinarian diagnosed cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) disease—the canine version of an ACL tear—in both back knees. Without surgery, the joint stays unstable and painful, and the damage can worsen with every step.

We were quoted $5,100 as the baseline per surgery, and Jack needs two (one knee at a time). That doesn’t include rehab/physical therapy, meds, post-op X-rays, or supplies. His left knee surgery is scheduled for Sept 17, and we’ll address the right knee next—because it’s already showing symptoms.

If you know us, you know we wouldn’t ask for help lightly. Like many families, we’ve been stretched thin. We applied for assistance and looked into loans, but Jack’s condition progressed quickly. We’re humbled—and hopeful—that our community can help us get Jack the care he needs.
