Our son, Jack, is a bright, kind, funny 14-year-old who should be spending his days thinking about school, friends, and the things he loves — not preparing for the fight of his life. In early October, our world shattered when Jack suddenly relapsed with AML, a brutal form of leukemia he had already fought once. After going through treatment again, he is now preparing for an urgent allogeneic bone marrow transplant — the only path that gives him a chance at a cure.
Nothing prepares you for hearing the word “relapse,” and nothing prepares you for what comes after. Transplant is an intense, high-risk procedure followed by a long and fragile recovery. Jack will be in the hospital for many weeks and then in strict isolation for months as his new immune system develops. Ahead of him are countless appointments, medications, procedures, and the very real possibility of complications like infections or graft-versus-host disease. As parents, we are doing everything in our power to keep him safe, supported, and surrounded by love — but we cannot do this alone.
We’ve created this fundraiser because the road ahead is long and terrifying, and the expenses are far beyond what our family can manage on our own. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to giving Jack the supportive environment he needs to get through transplant and the long recovery ahead.
Your generosity will go directly toward:
- Out-of-state housing, which is required before, during, and for 100 days post-transplant
- Unpaid time off to provide full-time caregiving
- Medical bills and treatment-related expenses
- Transportation to and from the hospital for daily appointments
- Medications, supplies, and emergency needs during recovery
- Months and years of follow-up care
The emotional weight of watching our child face something so enormous is overwhelming. The financial burden is, too. Even with insurance, the costs are staggering. These are not optional costs; they are the costs of keeping him alive.
If you are unable to donate, sharing this page would mean the world to us. Every share expands the circle of people who might lift Jack up when he needs it most.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us fight for our son’s future. Your support gives us strength, hope, and the ability to focus on what matters most: getting Jack through transplant, supporting his long recovery, and helping him return to the life every teenager deserves.
