Hi everyone, my name is Gia.
On October, 4, 2025, at 3 a.m., my significant other, Jack Sidrer lost his apartment to an immensely devastating fire. This fire tragically consumed the entirety of his belongings, including his phone, wallet, family valuables, clothes, and the stability of what was once called his ‘home’.
Due to this disastrous fire, our fur babies (Missy and Shadow), whom were deeply loved, were also not taken out to safety.
He miraculously made it out of the fire by jumping out of a side window onto the side-roof after being entrapped in concentrated smoke for a long time while asleep. An ambulance removed him from the scene to take him to the hospital due to smoke inhalation from being the last person that escaped from the fire.
The fire engulfed ALL four apartment units and stripped the entire 2nd floor to ash and rubble with the ceiling eventually collapsing onto the entire top of the complex. Multiple Woodbridge Township departments worked alongside Avenel to eventually contain and put out the large fire.
The apartment held many deep memories, including the byproducts of hard work and many points of transitions of life.
For anyone who knows Jack personally, he is the most generous and kind hearted individual that you could ever meet. He would take the literal shirt off of his back to clothe a stranger and spend his last dollar to ensure that a person has food. There has so many times that he has also shown true resilience, including earlier this year when another tragedy occurred; his father unexpectedly passed away to health issues.
He was fighting to build his life again through the hardship of his father’s death.
During this process, he was slowly attempting to initiate a business with me where he could channel his creativity and pour his hard work into. He also was in the course of gaining guardianship of his brother, Lee Sidrer, that has special needs.
Overall, the fire not only left him the emotional, mental, and physical toll of the event, but also the overwhelming task of figuring out his next steps.
The funds raised here will go directly to replacing basic necessities, any medical expenses, assisting in rebuilding of his life from scratch, to eventually finding a new place to call ‘home’.
Please join me in giving back to him as he is someone that genuinely deserves happiness above all.
Thank you so much for all of your assistance and support during this chaotic time.
My heart is with everyone in the apartment complex that has been affected by this fire.
