I adopted my rabbit, Riddeljack (Jack), last year from a rescue. While he was there, he was attacked by some of the other rabbits, which resulted in an injury to his ear. When I brought him home, I discovered he had a persistent abscess that I didn’t realize was so severe until he was in my care. Since then, I’ve taken him to several vets, tried various medications, and even had a small procedure done to drain and clean the abscess. Unfortunately, it keeps coming back and is getting worse.

Early on, the first vet advised that Jack would likely need to have his ear amputated, but I wanted to explore every possible option before making such a big decision. After trying multiple treatments and consulting with different vets, it’s become clear that amputation is the only way to give him his best chance at a healthy life. I’ve been doing everything I can to afford this surgery, including taking on extra work and looking into loans and credit cards, but I have very little experience with those options.

The funds I’m asking for will cover Jack’s surgery, as well as the medical breakdown shown on the quote. If the costs end up being lower, any remaining funds will go toward his recovery medications and follow-up care. Any help sincerely means the world to us. I know some people might see him as “just a rabbit,” but to me, he’s my best friend. I work from home, and he’s with me every day—we’re deeply bonded. I adopted him during one of the deepest depressions of my life, and as someone who struggles with major depressive disorder, that means a lot. I really love him and would do anything for him, which is why I’m here asking for help from anyone willing to give it.
