Help Jack Get Emergency Vet Care

Mr Jack came to us nearly a decade ago. It was the middle of winter in Colorado- a snowstorm had hit, and it was freezing out. We were in the habit of putting out a box with blankets and some cat food just in case it was needed. That’s when Jack started coming around. He used to live next door, but his previous human abandoned him and his brother/friend Perry. I wasn’t looking for a pet necessarily because I was still mourning my previous babies… that’s when tragedy struck. Perry was found in the back yard near the alley, dead from what appeared to be a broken neck. At that moment, I moved Jack from the porch to live inside. He took a little while to warm up to a new family, but before I knew it, he was forcing open the bedroom door to come sleep in bed.

Jack has been with me through EVERYTHING. My first long term relationship of 6 years, we were a little family. We’ve been through heartbreak, friendships ending, moving to a new state, and starting completely over. There were many times in my life where I didn’t want to get out of bed… but I did because Mr Jack depends on me- he has saved me so many times… I can never truly repay that… and now, he needs me more than I’m able to provide.

Since late December, we have been in and out of the Vet several times. We had blood work done right away, and everything looked fine with the exception of some pancreas levels a little off. They said he needed to be hospitalized because he had pancreatitis, and he was there for several days. When he was released to us, we had to give him antibiotics at home for 10 days. About 7 days in, we have to take him back to the animal hospital because during his stay, he contracted a feline cold, he was recovering from the pancreatitis and BOOM, another 10 days of 2 different antibiotics to treat the cold. Finally we are done with the antibiotics, and Jack starts throwing up. When he doesn’t stop after a few days, we take him back to the vet and they say they felt a mass in his belly and recommend an ultrasound. It was a Saturday, and the specialist wasn’t available until today, Tuesday morning. We are still waiting on the radiologist to send results, but one of the nurses said it looked like his pancreas had lumps/spots showing on the ultrasound and feels like it could be cancer. The results won’t be available until tomorrow, and Mr Jack is currently at home trying to eat a little and rest. They recommend getting him admitted for at least a week of hospitalization to try to stabilize his levels so he can be a better candidate for biopsy and treatment. This can cost $6-10k for the hospitalization alone… we have already spent nearly $3k on his visits, and I can’t afford the extra hospitalization without you.

This is where I’m asking… no… BEGGING for help… I completely understand that he shouldn’t have to suffer- I don’t want him to… and as his dad, I genuinely don’t think he has reached that level of pain at all. He still walks around, jumps high up onto the bed or into other little areas, and is still in social areas, not isolating himself. If there is ANY chance that I can save my baby, I want to know I did everything I humanely could do to keep my best friend alive.

So here we go- I’m not asking you to donate $10k. I’m not asking for $1k… not $100, $50, $25 or $10… all I’m asking is for you to donate $1, and share this with your friends. PLEASE, ask them to donate just $1 and share with their friends. If you would like to help with more than one dollar, I’m not going to say no, and I would appreciate it so much. But I’m hoping beyond hope, that community can come together on this one- if you’re going to give a dollar to anyone today… please give it to Jack. He’s the sweetest boy, and he deserves the best chance. He needs to go on more car rides, chase his favorite laser pointer more, and become more of the lap cat that he only recently started to become. He means everything to me. Please help.
