Aloha. My name is Marisa Lang and I am the daughter of two of the most kind, loving, and giving people you could meet, Jack and Colleen Berglund. This past June after contracting COVID-19, my mother Colleen sustained a stroke which has significantly impacted her both mentally and physically as well as leaving my parents with a mountain of medical bills and has devastated them financially. The hospital that my mother had initially been sent to was severely lacking in the care they provided her and as a result my mother almost died and required transport to the hospital not once, but 3 times due to their negligence. After a hospital stay in Kona Community Hospital which lasted approximately 4 weeks and while she awaited a bed to open up at a rehab facility, my mother was transported again by ambulance to a hospital an hour away with a rehab program. She stayed at Kohala Hospital for approximately another 4 weeks receiving daily physical therapy and occupational therapy. During that time more and more medical bills were accumulating for my mother’s medical care and continue to accumulate as my mother is now at home, but will continue to require ongoing physical therapy and medical appointments. It has become increasingly overwhelming to say the least for my parents to stay on top of the amassing medical bills and as they live on social security and a small pension, it has become a financial burden to them that they simply had not anticipated. To help offset the cost of the medical expenses they now face, I am asking that you please consider donating to help these two wonderful people. No donation is too small and every bit is greatly appreciated. Māhalo nui loa for your time and for any help you can provide.
