Hi, my name is Jace, I’m 23 years old and I'm fundraising for a service dog. In January of 2022, I was in a car accident, my brakes gave out while I was making a turn and I broke my back. I suffered a spinal cord injury, but luckily I’m recovering, learning how to walk again, but there will be permanent damage and I'm still going to need a lot of help. I rely on my mom for almost everything and while some of those things I’ll learn how to do, others I’m hoping to replace with a service dog. A service dog would significantly benefit me going forward and help me become independent and even get back to work and school one day. I’m hoping to one day become a recreational therapist and help other people while they are in the hospital, but I need to achieve independence first. Most non-profits only raise golden retrievers or labs and unfortunately, my mom and I are allergic to dogs that shed. So we're looking for an organization that does poodles or other non-shedding varieties. A service dog is expensive and with the medical bills and having to modify my home to make it accessible to me, I need help raising the funds. All of the money would go towards the specialized training a service dog must go through to get certified. The organization says to have between $25,000 to $50,000 dollars for all the training, but because I’m unable to work and my mom had to retire early to care for my grandmother after she fell ill, I have to fundraise the money. I would greatly appreciate it if you donated and shared, helping me toward my goal of independence. If anyone’s interested in seeing my recovery you can find me on Instagram @littlegunther13 Thank you!
