Who I Am:
My name is Kiley Benedetto, I’m your average stay at home mom , humanitarian advocate, and a concerned friend, living in the in the Midwest, USA . I’ve been in direct contact with individuals living in Gaza through relationships with my Palestinian American friends that I went to school with in the USVI who have connected me with these beautiful families. I have been listening to their stories and doing what I can to help amplify their voices and provide relief.
Who This Fundraiser Is For:
This fundraiser is for my friend Jaber Abo Obaid, a 25-year-old man living in central Gaza. He is the eldest son in a family of seven and the primary provider for his parents, three younger sisters (ages 18–20), and one younger brother (age 13). Jaber is not affiliated with any organization. He and his family are innocent civilians. He is a young man caught in a humanitarian crisis, doing everything he can to keep his family alive. If that weren’t enough Jaber battles bells palsey and requires treatment and medication. His mother also has blood pressure issues that require medication. This all adds to the stress of everything.
For over two years, Jaber and his family have lived under siege, enduring daily suffering as part of the ongoing bombings in Gaza. What many would call a crisis has become their new normal. Survival is never guaranteed.
Every day for Jaber begins with hunger. He wakes up with stomach pain, not from illness, but from lack of food. He immediately begins thinking about the essential things they must secure just to make it through another day.
The first mission is water. Jaber walks miles under the hot sun, carrying empty containers in the hope of finding a source of clean water. Often, what they find is barely safe, but there are no other options. After waiting in long lines, he carries the heavy containers back home to his family.
Next comes firewood. With no gas or electricity, Jaber has to collect and chop wood to cook food. He works until his hands blister just to ensure his family has a heat source for one meal.
Then comes the impossible task of trying to buy food. Most days, he can only afford small portions of plain rice or lentils, without oil, broth, bread, or any source of protein or nutrition. Bread is a luxury. Sugar is a memory. Cooking means boiling it all in water and making it stretch. After the meal, the family sits together, knowing it may be the only one they have that day.
This is considered a “quiet” or “good” day one without bombings or destruction, but still filled with exhaustion, hunger, and the daily fight for survival.
Jaber is not married. He has dedicated his life to protecting and providing for his parents and siblings. Every single day, he carries a load no one should bear, especially not a young man. His only request is that the world not forget about them.
How Funds Will Be Spent & Delivered:
All donations will go directly toward:
Food (grains, canned goods, rice, lentils, flour, etc.)
Clean drinking water
Cooking fuel or firewood
Basic hygiene products (soap, sanitary pads, toothpaste)
Emergency shelter and clothing needs if the situation worsens
Why This Matters:
Every donation—no matter the size—goes toward helping a real family with real daily needs. You won’t be donating to an organization. You’ll be helping a son protect his family, eat one more meal, and sleep with a little more safety.
The funds will be sent directly to Jaber Abu Amra in Gaza through secure money transfer platforms. I will maintain regular communication with Jaber, documenting how the funds are being used and providing updates to donors when available.
If you’ve ever wondered what you can do to help someone in Gaza, this is your chance. Your donation will directly support a real family who is fighting to stay alive every single day.
Please consider giving or sharing. Jaber and his family are still holding on with patience, but they need us now more than ever.
Thank you for standing with the innocent civilians in Gaza. Thank you for standing with Jaber.
