Help Jaap beat cancer
Donation protected

Yesterday, I was heartbroken to hear that my 10 year old son's lovely friend, Jaap had recently been diagnosed with a form of bone cancer, osteosarcoma.
Jaap is an energetic, kind fourth grader at my children's school, Del Rey Elementary School. Last week, his parents took him to see a doctor regarding hip pain Jaap had been having recently. A few days ago, the family discovered Jaap has a rare form of bone cancer, osteosarcoma.
On Monday, June 4th, Jaap came to school to share his diagnosis with his friends, as well as say good-bye to his friends. Jaap faced the day with such strength, grace, and positivity.
Beginning today, June 5th, Jaap will be receiving treatment at Stanford Medical Center.
While my children and their friends are gearing up for the lazy days of summer, Jaap will be spending the next 9 - 10 months living at Stanford Medical Center three days out of every week while he gets medical treatment for osteosarcoma.
Yesterday, Jaap gave me a hug good-bye and said, "I miss my old life where my legs worked and I could run." It absolutely broke my heart.
Let's help support this wonderful child as he fights his way back to having the ability to run.
We are raising money to help defray medical costs, transportation, as well as whatever else the family may need as Jaap seeks treatment for osteosarcoma.
Please keep Jaap in your thoughts and thank you.
