Peace and Blessings! My name is Jaamal Benjamin. I'm an artist and designer currently based in New Haven, CT. As a designer, I make graphic works, independent books and letterforms. As an artist, part of my work thinks about deconstructing of the book form, the spread, and letter forms through methods of collage and indigo dyeing. (Images of those works can be found in the image carousel above.)

This March, with your support, I have an opportunity to attend the Hiromi Paper Tour in Japan. This tour is a week long, March 8th–March 14th!! ;) Throughout the week, I, alongside a group of artists and curators, will visit various Japanese villages to meet with expert craft papermakers and indigo dyers.

A month ago, I was discouraged and basically threw in the towel after failing to line-up projects which would support this dream trip. Last week, I changed my mind when a friend encouraged me to make this once-in-a-lifetime dream trip happen!

So, in under a week, I'm reaching out to you for your support in funding this dream trip to Japan. Your support will contribute to roundtrip flight($2K) and the Hiromi Papers tour($3.8K).

Thank you in advance.
