Help J Relocate for a New Job in Texas

After ten life changing years in Buffalo, I am leaving at the end of August to begin a new Visiting Assistant Professor position in Texas. I'm emotional about leaving Buffalo and I wish I did not have to under these circumstances, but it's a tough job market.

It's difficult for me to ask for help, but the stress of wondering how I'm going to make this relocation happen on my own is pushing me past those fears. My new employer is only willing to reimburse me $500 in moving expenses. After accepting the position, I learned that I will not receive that reimbursement or my first paycheck until October 1st. My current job ends in mid-August and I will be without income for six weeks.

This move is not something that I can manage without the support of community. I am crowdfunding with a goal of $6,000. This amount will allow me to 1) Ship my vehicle from Buffalo to TX. 2) Hire movers and rent a storage unit. 3) Cover a $1,000 security deposit plus additional required move-in essential fees. 5) Pay prorated August rent and September rent. This financial support would also allow me to keep up on bills and pay for groceries while I'm waiting for my first paycheck.
