Help Izzy Through His Colon Cancer Battle

My name is Angie Newman, and I have had the pleasure of working with Isidoro DelaTorre, a.k.a. Izzy, for over 25 years. I first hired Izzy many years ago at a small apartment community in Owasso, Oklahoma, as my second maintenance man. He was young and had just enough knowledge to get the job. Over the years, he worked under several leads and gained a tremendous amount of experience. Izzy even attended trade school in the evenings to further his education in heating and air conditioning. He dedicated himself to studying, researching, and investigating to continue building his expertise.

Throughout the years, Izzy traveled with me to various properties across different states because I knew he could always be relied upon to get the job done. When I left the apartment industry a few years ago to travel, another Regional Manager tried to convince Izzy to move to her region, but being an Oklahoma boy, he was not interested in leaving. When I returned to the industry after my travels, I was determined to bring him back. After some persistence, he rejoined me in 2021 as my Lead Maintenance Man, where he now oversees a small team. The teamwork he has fostered is phenomenal.

In February 2024, Izzy was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. By March 2024, he began intensive chemotherapy, which took a significant toll on his body, causing him to lose over 40 pounds in three months. After undergoing three months of chemotherapy, he commenced radiation treatment for an additional two months. Remarkably, throughout this time, Izzy did not call in sick once! He showed up to work every single day while attending his treatments. Unfortunately, he faced two back-to-back surgeries spanned four weeks apart.

Izzy had just enough paid time off (PTO) for his first surgery, but he did not have enough for the second. His team attempted to donate their PTO to him, but unfortunately, they were unsuccessful. Izzy is the most dedicated and loyal employee I have ever had, with a work ethic that is unmatched.

His teammates love him for his gentle nature, and I am hoping you can help me raise funds for Izzy, as he will be going unpaid during this medical crisis.

Es responsable de un pequeño personal y el trabajo en equipo que ha creado es fenomenal.

En febrero de 2024, a Izzy le diagnosticaron cáncer de colon en etapa 3. En marzo de 2024, Izzy comenzó a someterse a quimioterapia intensiva. Se notaba que le estaba pasando factura a su cuerpo porque perdió más de 40 libras en 3 meses. Después de 3 meses de quimioterapia, comenzó su tratamiento de radiación por 2 meses más. ¡Durante estos meses, IZZY NO LLAMÓ ENFERMA NI UNA VEZ! Estaba en el trabajo todos los días haciendo su trabajo mientras asistía a estos tratamientos. Tenía 2 obstáculos más que superar: 2 cirugías consecutivas con 4 semanas de diferencia.

Izzy tuvo suficiente tiempo de PTO para su primera cirugía, pero no suficiente para su segunda cirugía. Su equipo intentó donar su PTO; sin embargo, no tuvieron éxito. Izzy es el empleado más dedicado y leal que jamás haya tenido trabajando para mí. Su ética de trabajo es como ninguna otra. Sus compañeros de equipo lo aman mucho debido a su naturaleza amable. Ayúdame a recaudar dinero para Izzy ya que no le pagan en este momento de su crisis médica.
