Help Izzi with car accident and medical expenses

Donation protected
As many of you know, Isabelle (Izzi) Rae was in a serious car accident in December.  On her way home to Indianapolis from Muncie, Izzi changed lanes on the freeway and ended up between two very large construction trucks.  Traffic was heavy, and when the truck in front of her stopped, Izzi also stopped, but the truck behind her did not.  Instead, it slammed into Izzi’s vehicle and pushed her into the truck in front of her, crushing her vehicle between the two enormous trucks.  Her car was totaled.  Izzi suffered a gash across her face and neck from the seatbelt, but thought she was otherwise unharmed, so she refused the offer of an ambulance.

By the next day, the aches and pains (especially in her neck, shoulder, and arm) became unbearable.  Several of us insisted that she get checked out at the hospital.  We all assumed that the truck behind her would be responsible for the medical bills, and she’d have nothing to worry about financially.  She took our advice, and fortunately she had no permanent damage.  But it is better to be safe than sorry, right?

Then came the bad news: The two trucks forming the Izzi sandwich shared the same insurance company.  And the company refused to pay.  The driver who hit her claimed that she cut him off and he had no time to stop (though why SHE was able to stop wasn’t addressed).  The insurance company ruled that she had not been in her lane long enough to find the other driver at fault, so she received nothing for either her car or her medical bills.  She lost time at work, because she was in too much pain to sit at the computer all day, which caused her to get behind in other bills, and she ended up having to pay for multiple massages to help with the pain as she recovered.

When I offered to set up a go fund me for her, Izzi insisted that I not ask for money for a new vehicle. She works from home, so it is not critical at the moment, though because her vehicle was older and paid off, she didn’t have collision coverage. But the medical bills and the tax debt that has fallen behind (she is self-employed as an animator, and must file quarterly) are overwhelming to her at the moment.  It is for this reason that I am hoping we can raise a total of $7361, which would cover both the medical bills and the taxes.  We have not included the lost wages, the after-care, or anything for replacing her vehicle.  However, should we exceed the goal, Izzi would use any extra money to go toward the purchase of another used vehicle.  Please consider donating whatever  you can to help our dear friend get back on her feet financially.  Every little bit helps! If you can’t afford to donate, perhaps you could share this with others who can.  Thank you.
