Help Izzí and Shiloh stay Housed and get to NYC

Donation protected
Hi friends,

This is Izzí (and Shiloh), continuing from our last GoFundMe after a donation error made it seem as if we reached our goal before we have. This GoFundMe is an attempt to pick up where we left off and to try to recover from trying circumstances.

Shiloh and I have been homeless since February, after a dissociative episode caused us to lose our housing. I myself have been in and out of hospitals since then, receiving treatment for Dissociative Identity Disorder and C-PTSD. I’ve been enrolled in a trauma-intensive program for PTSD survivors since the start of April, which has been beneficial for recovering and learning new skills and strategies to overcome trauma and its hold over my life.

In the interests of preserving my privacy, I am hesitant to share more about our experience since the start of 2025. Suffice it to say it’s been arduous, painful, and dispiriting, and it’s only been through the generosity of family and friends that we’ve been able to keep ourselves sheltered for as long as we have. I’m really grateful for the people who’ve checked in on us and offered support during this stressful time.

It is my goal to get us to a place where we are thriving, and not just surviving. After the trials of the last four months (and really, over the last year since we moved to Rhode Island), I feel like it’s in our best interests to get back to New York City, where we’ll have an easier time finding suitable work, getting around the city, and finding comprehensive mental health and gender-affirming care. It’s my hope that the skills I’m learning now will support us in living a balanced, secure, and meaningful life. It’s my hope that relocating to NYC will help me reconnect with friends and care providers, and build an enduring sense of community which will help us through inevitable hardship. Still, approaching this hardship from a place of strength, health, and stability will go a long way towards helping us overcome those kinds of obstacles, rather than be consumed by them. Our program will continue for at least another two weeks, and upon completion, it is our goal to make our way back to New York.

We are seeking funds to help with some urgent and upcoming costs, both to keep ourselves housed in the present and short-term, and to secure housing in the near future and long-term. Here’s how your donation can help us:

$25-50: Immediate meal support and Shiloh care (doggie bags, treats, food)
$50-75: Prescriptions, meals
$75-100: One night at a hotel
$100-250: 2-3 nights at a hotel
$250-500: 3 days - 1 week at a hotel
$500-750: 1 week at a hotel + down payment for rental vehicle to drive Lyft; or 2 weeks at a hotel / hostel
$750-1000: 2-3 weeks at a hostel
$1000-1500: Rent + security deposit

This list isn’t exhaustive of all the needs (and expenses) that will inevitably come up, but is shared in the interests of giving you a sense of how your donation can get us through this emergency circumstance. Our hostel just let us know that they’re not allowing us to extend our reservation, so we’ll be without housing as of tomorrow. I thank you in advance for your generosity of spirit in helping us through this ordeal, and hope to pay your generosity forward in deed and kind.

If you can, share this campaign with friends, family, and your networks to assist us in getting supportive eyes on our effort.

Thank you again, and hoping a better life is in store for us soon.
