Hi everyone — I’m Jonathan, and this is Ivy. I brought Ivy home in late February 2026, and within about a week and a half of her being home we discovered she was limping and favoring one of her back legs. I really hoped it was something minor that would resolve with rest — but it didn’t. What makes this so hard is that Ivy still wants to be a normal, happy puppy. She tries to follow me from room to room and play like nothing’s wrong, and I have to keep stopping her from jumping or running because I don’t want her knee to get worse. She’s already become family, and it hurts to see her struggle to walk comfortably.

After seeing my veterinarian and then taking her to the emergency vet for X-rays, Ivy was diagnosed with a knee problem (stifle) that includes medial patellar luxation and a rotational malformation of her tibia. The ER vet explained that this type of structural issue can worsen over time and may lead to arthritis, and they recommended an orthopedic surgical consultation to determine the best treatment plan. The emergency visit alone was expensive, and now we’re facing additional costs for a specialist consult, possible surgery, medications, and recovery care/rehab.

I’m doing everything I can to help Ivy have a comfortable, active life — but I can’t cover the full cost on my own. Because we don’t know the full treatment plan yet (one procedure vs. a more complex repair, rehab, follow-up imaging, and the possibility of future orthopedic needs), I set the fundraiser amount to cover the worst-case scenario. Any funds not used directly for Ivy’s medical care will be reserved for her future orthopedic treatment or donated to help other pets in need.
