Hello, this is Ivy, she's 8 years old. At 6 pm on July 2nd, she was attacked by a large dog at a family outing two hours north of the city. We rushed her to the emergency vet in Crosby and found that the attack had left 6 broken ribs, over half of her lungs bruised, and three puncture wounds on her back. Her oxygen levels were very low, and luckily, we were able to secure an oxygen chamber at Blue Pearl Emergency Vet in Eden Prairie. After the first night, the vet called to further explain Ivy's condition. She was concerned for Ivy's well-being as she was not eating and was in significant pain. It is possible that her GI tract was also punctured by the bite, which would lead to emergency surgery. As of now, she is in serious but stable condition and needs to stay another night. The vet bills are up to $4,000 for two nights between the two hospitals and more for the at home meds. Ivy will have a long road to recovery, she's special to so many people. She's an emotional support animal and the unofficial mascot at the Saint Norbert College Mulva Library in De Pere Wisconsin. We are hoping for the very best, and praying for a speedy recovery.
