Ivy is an amazing little woman child who has faced more challenges in her life than most people ever will. Ivy was born with cystic fibrosis and also lives with cystic fibrosis–related diabetes (CFRD). Every single day she manages medications, treatments, blood sugar checks, and doctor appointments just to stay healthy. Despite everything she goes through, she continues to show strength, kindness, and maturity far beyond her years.
For many years, children with cystic fibrosis qualified for Make-A-Wish. Recently, CF was removed from their eligibility list because new medications have helped many people with CF live longer, healthier lives. This is wonderful progress for the CF community but it also means kids like Ivy, who still fight through daily treatments and challenges, no longer qualify. When Ivy talked about what her wish would have been, she said she would love to go on a cruise. The idea of seeing the ocean, exploring new places, and just getting to be a kid and have an adventure lit up her whole face.
Since Make-A-Wish is no longer an option, we want to create our own “wish” for Ivy. Our hope is to raise enough money to take Ivy on a cruise where she can take a break from the routine of hospitals, treatments, and medical stress — and simply experience joy, adventure, and memories that will last a lifetime. Anyone who knows Ivy knows how strong she is. She handles daily treatments, medications, and blood sugar management with courage. She deserves a chance to experience something magical and carefree.
