Help Ivy beat Anorexia

Hello, my name is Leslie and my beautiful niece and sister need your help!

This is Ivy. She's 14 years old and lives in Virginia with her hardworking, single Mom, Christine. She loves art and music and taking care of her many animals.

Ivy is hospitalized with a feeding tube right now to treat Anorexia, and severe depression. This wonderful, humorous Honor student has had a devastating year, as have so many of us, and just could not withstand the barrage of emotional traumas.

On top of isolation, illness (both she and her Mom had Covid 19), the horror and fear around us all, she has also been dealing with her father's decline from liver disease and knows he won't be here for long.

Ivy has been in a hospital two and a half hours from their home for the past 3 weeks and Christine has been driving several days a week for meetings and therapy sessions but this is not an in-patient program.

Thankfully, she has been accepted into Johns Hopkins residential program for adolescent depression and eating disorders in Baltimore, Maryland! However, this increases Christine's travel to 4 hours one way and she will still be attending therapy with Ivy and meetings with Doctors. Her ability to work will be even more limited. Ivy's Dr. has said this type of recovery is generally 18 months long, though of course there are never any guarantees.

I'm sure you are all aware of the financial devastation medical emergencies cause to so many families. That's why you're on this site. Even though Christine has insurance it's not the greatest. She already has to put $6500 on a credit card to keep her spot at Johns Hopkins. God knows what the last 3 weeks in hospital are going to look like. We are hoping to avoid the loss of her home and a barrage of creditors making life even more traumatic.
